Newcastle under Lyme StaffordshireServices
Centaur Equine offer horse training and riding lessons within a 15 mile radius of Newcastle-under-Lyme. Our non-violent training methods allow every horse we work with to realise his full potential in a respectful, peaceful environment.
Centaur Equine riding lessons are available for all levels of expertise, from complete beginner to keen competitor.
At Centaur Equine, we believe that every horse matters.
'No one has the right to say, "You must or I will hurt you," to any creature, animal or human.’ (Monty Roberts)
Inspired by the groundbreaking work of Monty Roberts, we believe that the most effective equine training methods create a true partnership between horse and human rather than dominance through violence. We’re passionate about helping you and your horse reach achievable, realistic goals without force.
We work with your horse’s individual nature to train him in a way that is sympathetic to his needs. Your horse will have the freedom to learn for himself and, most importantly, to enjoy the process. We know that a good horse is one who is a willing partner and enjoys his work. By offering your horse the freedom of choice, our training makes a real difference to both horse and owner.
We specialise in bespoke training solutions using natural, gentle horsemanship techniques. All our training is non-violent, which means we never use harsh equipment or techniques. Our training methods are suitable for any horse, from happy hackers to competition horses.
Good ground manners can be the difference between enjoying spending time with your horse and dreading the prospect of his company. A happy horse is a willing horse. Your horse will respond to being treated with respect and care through Centaur Equine non-violent training methods, leading to a strong partnership between the two of you. Enjoyment and fun for both horses and owners is an integral part of our behaviour shaping training.
Behaviour shaping covers all aspects of ground training including:
• Standing for the farrier and vet
• Standing safely at the mounting block
• Spook busting (desensitisation).
Our double line lunging, long reining and “in hand” schooling techniques aren’t just useful to competition or dressage horses – all horses can benefit. This type of schooling is a great way to improve your horse’s suppleness, flexibility, gait and – most importantly – self-confidence. Young horses can concentrate on learning without the distraction of a rider, which is the perfect way for them to start and makes their subsequent learning with a rider easier. If your horse has had an injury, in hand schooling is an excellent way to help him back to full fitness.
Above all, the time we spend with our horses should be fun. Whether it’s your first ever lesson or you’re already a keen rider, lessons with Centaur Equine are enjoyable for both rider and horse.
We believe that learning together with your horse is what makes a fun and rewarding lesson, so we specialise in teaching ‘sympathetic riding’, our own natural riding techniques developed to improve both horse and rider. Our enjoyable exercises help you improve your riding and address any equine behaviour problems too.
Please note that while we teach at all levels of expertise, we do not provide specialist competition instruction.Prices
