I qualified as a BHSAI 10 years ago and have since then been teaching daily and managing a large equestrian centre.

I have years of experience in competeing in BD, BS and affiliated showing, producing my horses from scratch and assisting others to succeed also.

I am a ride and conformation judge on several affiliated showing panels including Ponies UK, BSPS, and the Veteran Horse Society.

I am fully insured for freelance training, and have undertaken First Aid and Child Protection training.

I aim to complete the BHSII by the end of summer 2013 - I have one module left to pass on the Intermediate Teaching Exam.

I can offer support and education in all disciplines of riding, also care and management, ground work, lunging, assistance in backing & breaking. I am experienced in supporting novice or nervous riders as well as those aiming for competition success.

I am also available to work as a freelance groom at home or competition, with experience of grooming at affiliated dressage, showing, and eventing to national level competition.

I believe that when your riding or doing anything with horses it
should be a partnership between you and you horse, you both enjoy each others
company and when riding it should be a chore or a battle it should be enjoyable
and team work, you should want the horse to try for you.

I base my way of teaching very much on the fact that both horse and rider are
unique and that every one horse/rider learns differently.

I also do ground work building up a bond with you and your horse, you should
both have respect for each other and simple ground work is great for building
up your relationship and can be used to help improve manners e.g a horse that
pulls when being lead, it is not acceptable, but neither is smacking you horse
when it does as it does not learn anything except that it gets a bad reaction.

I am great with shy, nervous and sensitive horses, I have had experience
with very nervous and trouble horses. I am very patient and understanding and I
wait for the horse, I don’t rush or make the horse feel uncomfortable and make
them want to be with you, to want your partnership and company.

I also school horse/ponies young or old they are never to old to learn
something new. However horses learn at different speeds and to get the best out
of your horse/pony you need to give them time to accept and understand what your
asking.
